Electrodiagnostic Studies

For spine and musculoskeletal pain, like many other types of pain, your nerves are often involved.  And sometimes they aren't.  In either case, getting appropriate and effective treatment starts with a thorough understanding of what's causing your pain.  And this includes understanding how the nerves are or are not involved.

Advanced testing

Electromyography (EMG studies) and nerve conduction velocity tests (NCV studies) help to determine the nature and cause of your problem.  We first start with a complete health history, a physical examination and discussion of your symptoms.  Dr. Miller then performs EMG and NCV tests.  EMG tests the electrical activity of the muscles, while NCV evaluates for damage, disease and impingement of nerves by measuring the speed and strength of the electrical signal.

Credentials & experience

Dr. Miller is licensed through the California Physical Therapy Board as an Electroneuromyographer and is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialites (ABPTS) in Clinical Electrophysiology.  In addition, he has also completed a residency in Electrodiagnosis through the American Academy of Clinical Electrodiagnosis.  He performs studies himself with specialized equipment and highly trained expertise.
